![]() I purchase Office first and then I create the account it associated with? How could Office be associated with an account that did not yet exist? How does it "know" what I purchased?Īs I said before I suppose I should have just created a Microsoft account when I was prompted. There seems to be a chicken-and-egg problem. This is the part that makes zero sense to me. He said it's the account that I created when I went through the setup wizard. ![]() ![]() I asked my rep which account? No response. We got a login prompt that said something to the effect that "Microsoft software is waiting for you." That would seem to indicate that the Office license is associated with some Microsoft account and all we need to do is login. I found a Dell software delivery program but that did nothing. A quick Google confirmed that his info is outdated they do not ship license key cards any more. I double checked for a card and I don't have that. OK, where is it? He said it should be installed already or I should have gotten a card with the license key. He confirmed I paid for the full version of Office. (I suspect this was my mistake.) I saw that only a "light" version of Office was installed so I contacted my sales rep. I powered on the laptop for the first time and went through the Windows 10 setup wizard. Office 2016 was included in the purchase. I bought a new Dell laptop for a user at my company. I am all kinds of confused as to how Office 2016 activation works.
